Is anyone like me and when one is around I talk to myself, I always laugh because if someone were to be in the room or hear me they'd swear someone was there with me, well until I answer myself, then it would just get weird 🤣 I used to talk to my dog all the time but sadly I lost him a few months back, but I do still chat with my cat all the time and Bubba my late dog because I know he's still with me! But I had to ask to see if anyone else has this unique trait! I hope you all have had an amazing day and tomorrow's even better!! You're exactly where your supposed to be and you will be OK, always love yourself exactly the way you aren because you're freaking awesome sauce baby, keep killing it!!

I feel like that’s normal! I have so many friends who do this that don’t suffer from adhd and talk to themselves.

This is me constantly! I especially like to chat to myself when I’m walking somewhere in the city. Sometimes I have earbuds in but more often than not I don’t, and I’ve thought extensively about how this might look to others, but I ultimately don’t care because I get so much constructive thinking done in this way, as well as the fact that it’s enjoyable. I’ve noticed a lot of people in NYC seem to talk to themselves in a similar way, and it’s not strange or offputting, so let’s just let people do what works for them, you know what I’m saying?

### @adhdbambi — 2023-05-31T09:04:10.717Z

Yeah... I don't bother anymore. I just tell them that I’m talking to myself and to ignore me. 🤣

This is actually super healthy! Most brains need to say the words out loud to process, thinking without saying things out loud can keep it in your head bothering you. A great teacher I followed (pre- social media) had a whole lecture of: please, if you refuse to go to therapy or peer support, at least get a pet and tell them about your day. I'd say tell it to yourself in the mirror, but people don't like to do that. Tell your pet what you're doing, what was hard, and things you're worried about. That's therapeutic already, but a pet can tip the scales towards maintaining a consistent schedule, reading and walking, plus the health benefits of petting/ cuddling an animal.

Personally, this approach worried me because I would stress out about these pets being neglected, and I felt that was a lot of pressure to put on a pet, but other people really liked it, including people who worked in shelters and had anecdata that these pets were \_very\_ rarely returned, and they were just glad to have homes for so many of their critters.

Hello

### @haylstorm — 2023-05-30T03:52:30.225Z

Hahaha I do this all the time! And if I happen to walk past a mirror I often find myself stopping and continuing the conversation with my reflection 🤦🏽‍♀️😂
Also I have noticed that about halfway into my first coffee of the day my monologue switches from inside my head to talking out loud… weird 😂

### @adhdmusic — 2023-05-30T02:00:08.903Z

Constantly out loud and in my head and idc if ppl see or know bc they say geniuses talked to themselves

### @madnesss — 2023-05-29T19:38:17.652Z

Yes

### @adhddes719 — 2023-05-29T01:53:46.535Z

I do this so I wear my AirPods religiously so it looks like I’m on the phone 😭

### @jazz.y — 2023-05-28T19:31:21.628Z

I tend to talk to myself as well, for 2 separate reasons:
Sometimes I will stim verbally,
other times it’s because my anxious thoughts are “too loud” and if I talk to myself they become less loud, if that makes sense???
Good to know I’m not alone in the whole talking to myself thing, even if we may do it for different reasons it’s comforting knowing other people do it

### @loveNatascha — 2023-05-28T08:25:19.051Z

I always wander if i was the only one doing this don’t know how to stop 🤦🏽‍♀️

### @Unknown — 2023-05-27T06:58:28.255Z

### @glebbbelov — 2023-05-26T21:30:11.592Z

### @oopsIdiditagain — 2023-05-25T20:42:38.281Z

I practice arguments that are never gonna happen where I was mike drop some amazing gem. I also tell myself what I am doing to try not to forget as I go from one room to another.

### @lllaylaaa — 2023-05-23T19:14:41.179Z

Man.....I went to the grocery store the other day while my husband sat with or 3 kids.....I started talking to myself and then was dude.....I really need to stop 🤣🤣🤣

### @Cazzie24 — 2023-05-23T17:48:19.122Z

When I was growing up I would have long conversations with people I knew but who were not present. I would relive conversations I had had with them but say what I should have said instead of what I actually said. I don’t do it any more though.

MnSweets,
I’ve read several of your posts. I appreciate your upbeat positive perspective.
The thing I took away from this post was that you laugh at yourself and about talking to yourself.
Living with ADHD is a bitch but laughing and accepting yourself is HUGE!
PS: I’m sorry you lost you friend Bubba. ❤️‍🩹

### @gecko — 2023-05-22T21:11:30.085Z

I have long philosophical conversations with myself all the time. I find that most of my procrastination comes from discussing all the variables and options for accomplishing my task. Any one else over-analyze their day?

### @bazia — 2023-05-22T13:14:51.276Z

I talk to myself daily, saying stuf out loud helps me remember things I have to do and make choices easier. Right now I live alone so I feel less lonely when I talk to myself or to my cats.

### @Zelda007 — 2023-05-21T21:06:24.615Z

If I didn't talk to myself I'd have no one to talk to! I just say I'm talking to the dogs!!

### @CometOfTheNights — 2023-05-21T05:51:12.483Z

So here a song from me to all self-talkers (including me) 😂: ADHD by Two Feet

### @t3chnopol1c3 — 2023-05-20T23:12:42.613Z

I often have a self-talk, because if I never express anything, it keeps me corroded all inside and I have a mental breakdown

### @ChrisM — 2023-05-20T22:27:38.228Z

Yea!

### @samchop — 2023-05-20T14:18:29.598Z

I always talk to myself! I crack myself up and love being silly with myself. Even in my depression I make stupid voices and songs with my cats or even just by myself sometimes. I'm so sorry about your pup, it's so difficult. I still talked to my cat Mufasa for a long time after she was gone. They are watching over us :)

### @SieveHeadJessie — 2023-05-20T13:14:48.283Z

Always! I always talk to myself especially when I’m driving on my own 🤣🤣 full on conversations though like somebody is there 🤣

### @DrPug — 2023-05-20T10:42:45.322Z

I talk to myself too, mostly in english. Truth is i'm french. I can speak alone like that for half an hour.
