I don’t know how to get myself into gear most mornings. I get up early with my children but it takes me so long to organise myself and get ready for the day and I don’t know why. I can’t seem to get myself to get moving and it takes me forever to start on the chores I’m supposed to do. My mind just seems to be in a fog that I can’t get out of. What can I do about this?

This is probably the biggest obstacle in my life. It takes me so long to get started in the mornings. I don't really feel like I get into a groove with my day until 1:00 or 2:00. One of the things that helped is that I started working very part-time on a project and I asked my partner on the project to have a morning call with me at 10:30 every morning. Just to touch base. Because I'm not a morning person I couldn't have it any earlier than that. But I set my alarm for 8:00. Make sure I took my meds by 8:30 had my morning caffeine by 9:00 and by 10:30 I had a reason to be dressed and teeth brushed to be on the zoom call. It gave me just enough accountability without feeling stressed.

I struggle with this too. I found that it helps me to drive, get out of the house, take the kids to daycare, soak up sunshine, and then blast music that I like to sing and dance to. Then I’m in a better mood and a little energized and I can rely on the crippling fear of getting fired to push me through the day, like walking through mud while a tiger chases you 🥴🫠

I once read that drinking a bottle/glass of water before bed helps with it. It worked a bit for me. And I would also exercise in some way closer to when I was going to bed.
