Currently experiencing what I think is burn out due to work stress and have very physical symptoms; sickness/heart palpitations/feeling lethargic and randomly have swollen hands. I have called in work sick today and told them it is due to stress but just wondering if anyone has any advice please?

I’m learning in therapy that sometimes so much of our energy as neurodivergent individuals goes into masking/ creating systems in our work and world that zap us and send us into burnout. I like to take micro breaks in between tasks to color/sketch to help regulate throughout the day. I’m finding a lot of joy in reengaging with the small/fun/silly things I used to do for fun as a child. Follow your joy! Having an intentional self regulating ‘thing’ is so nice. Also, finding a therapist that can help you identify what’s zapping you has been really healing for me. Wishing you all the best and a swift recovery! I’ve totally been there! You’re worth more than your productivity!

You’re doing great and taking all the right steps!

That sounds like more that burnout, it can be hard to find a doctor who takes you seriously but don't give up. Stress can cause chronic health issues and we often ignore them until it's too late.

I found food allergies were a huge source of my own pain and inflammation which contribute to fatigue, but I had to find a naturopath MD to do the testing.
