so recently this year and a half I’ve been soprnding so much time on social media - some weeks ik how to manage it others I don’t. I’m quite hyper aware of all the things I need to change but it’s exhausting not to take action on them aka the start part the most daunting task at hand. I’ve been all over the place, crying and numbing out my pain through just doomscrolling - yes ik it sounds bad. what are some drastic ways to cut my social media without deleting it bc i use it work? and how can I stop procrastinating on tasks? What are the different types of procrastination as well? bc I feel like I self sabotage in ways that look normal but aren’t. Thank you so much strangers for reading this!!! Enjoy the rest of your day.

Kind regards,

Hello
I agree with Sonnek about using a timer or going into the app settings. I've installed a "do not disturb" mode on my phone for constant timings: this already prevents tempting notifications.
Against procrastination, I try to deal with the stress anyway and for just a few minutes (for example, during TV commercials) or put on some uplifting music.
I wish you a lot of courage, you're not alone in this!

Sometimes I accept that I need some doomscrolling time just to regulate. But one thing that helped me was to move the Insta icon to the last page of my app home screen (yay, missing object permanence 😅). Things to try might also be a regulation of the daily app use time (Insta has this feature) or a timer to say “I’m allowed to do this for 10 mins” and then stop (ideally the timer is physically somewhere you have to get up to reach it). And last: Try not to beat yourself up too hard. ADHD is a constant challenge 🫂🫶
