I just had a thought earlier today thinking about how I don't have as many close friends, so I thought I could take myself out for things and check in with myself and think it speak to myself as if I were talking to a close friend to trick myself into being nicer to me.
Reframe mistakes you make with gratitude. Instead of, “I’m sorry I’m late,” I try to say, “Thank you for waiting for me. I would have been disappointed to have missed you.” Errors are human. Punishing yourself for making mistakes doesn’t really do anyone any good; however, you know you have friends that will wait for you. You notice what they have done on your behalf. You let yourself of the hook, instead going into a negative self-talk spiral. Maybe it’s not the best advice, but I find it helpful.
