Being Taken Seriously

Why is it so hard as a woman with ADHD symptoms to be taken seriously by doctors and therapists?

Go to a doctor and therapist that is trained in mental health. One that is trained specifically in ADHD is even better. A mental health expert is equipped to WORK WITH YOU not only in diagnoses, but also in determining which meds may be best for you and open to trying something a different med if you feel it isn’t working or is making you ill. My therapist also has ADHD, although hers is better controlled than mine. She understands me!

You probably need different therapist. I didn't get diagnosed by my doctor, he said I was "mildly depress" it wasn't until I put my foot down and was assertive with my therapist that I got them to take me seriously.
