I've heard several people in videos commenting about using this technique to avoid being late for appointments and things like that. Claiming that they are rarely late because of this, In my opinion, this isn't the best idea because it creates an extreme sense of urgency, always being late, always worrying about the time, rushing around bumping into everything, Forgetting important things, non-constructive self-criticism, and that's just one of the things to point out. Does it work for you? Do you use it?

Be still rushing around at the last minute, but yah be on time .As long as your brain doesnt remind you youve got more time and you end up late anyway. Like ohh thats ok ive got another 5 mins ..time to....etc.
Just saying?

That’s the problem is that I’ll always know “well it’s ok bc my phone time is early I actually have more time than that”

This would be my problem

That would not work for me, I have a strict schedule to be able to make the school bus on time 😭

Everything you use, your brain get used to. It's one of those things, it helps as long, as a new sound of a reminder, so: a few days perhaps.

I have tried this and if I set my clock five minutes fast, I always say, “Well, I have five more minutes.” So there is no point. I just make sure to leave way ahead of my scheduled time.

The only exception is the morning alarm clock, when I am too blurry eyed to think the time may be wrong. 😂

Same for me. Worked at the very beginning and then it was an excuse to be even more late to things because I used my "extra 5 minutes" way too much 😅

So true

I honestly haven’t tried it but I feel that because I would know, then it wouldn’t work haha. In my experience, I rarely feel like I struggle with being on time, although the one thing I struggle with is being able to focus on anything else knowing I have an appointment later. 🫠 I’d be checking the time every 5 mins.

One thing I often do is use Google Maps to see how long it will take me to get there but I try to add the actual time of the appointment because of traffic hours. Then to whatever that time is I add 15 mins to get ready to leave and I set a reminder for that time.

The time on my phone was 20mins fast, which worked well for getting to places on time, but a client of mine complained as the timestamp on my emails I sent was also 20mins ahead…. something to bear in mind..

When I have an appointment or need to do something, I fill my phone with alarms for everything. That way, if everything has an alarm, I won't forget because it comes with a notification, it triggers me, and I remember to do what i need.

I do this as well, I've got alarms for appointments but also daily and weekly rutines to remember since I don't see time well and also forget things.

I’ve set my clocks 10->15->20 minutes fast (all the same time advanced at once, not 10 minutes on one clock, 20 minutes on another clock, etc.), and my brain knew what was up and I couldn’t fool it. It made me actually worse at leaving on time.

Yeah, I did that in college. I set the time on my phone forward 3 minutes, and it worked really well for me.

It's not a super long time, and I usually didn't think about whether it was real time or shifted forward.

I think I would always ask myself : « Is it the real hour, or did I use « the trick » - so it means I still have 15 mn before going ? »
What I use is the « transportation duration » (sorry if doesn’t mean anything, in French it’s « temps de trajet ») : and I take care to note a sufficient time on my calendar.

That’s what I do, too, plus being serious about planning in some „buffer time“ to finish a task before I have to do something/be somewhere.
