At least you have that one perfect area that helps you cope with the remaining chaos.

I know that feeling very well 😌

I even agree with those people who say: a clean/organized environment = a clean/organized mind. But if, for you, the effort (having to overcome yourself to tidy up) doesn’t yet feel worth the reward (the feeling of having a clean environment) then its rational not to do it. At least for a while.

I tidy up one space at a time, giving myself small goals. I hate clutter, and when I can't manage it, I don't feel good about myself. But there are times when I also have a total block, and instead of tidying up, I don't lift a finger.

My bathroom is always clean but the rest of the house is cluttered. When I truly manage to get an area organized it stays that way. But I have a real problem with finishing what I start. 🙁

Yes, I can relate to that. I struggle with consistency as well. Finishing specific tasks is less of a problem for me, but I know that a lot of people actually stop halfway through.
When I reach a “point of no return” with clutter, it tends to get even worse, too. Also, if I manage to maintain some baseline level of order, I’m more likely to feel the urge to build on it and keep things organized.
Basically, it’s the Broken Windows Effect.

My house was a total disaster but then I took meds ( Vyvanse 30mg) for the first time yesterday… not the house is perfect! But I couldn’t sleep last night, you think my dose is too high?

In the beginning, that’s completely normal. It’s common for your body to need some time to adapt, in my opinion.

You should check how long your medication is supposed to work because some typically last around 6 hours, while others can last up to 12 hours.

In general, many people report that the “felt” duration can be different from the official duration, which makes sense. Everyone has a different metabolism, and it also depends on factors such as how active you were during the day.

Those are the only suggestions I can give with a clear conscience. For anything beyond that, I’d recommend talking to your doctor or psychiatrist. They’re the most qualified people to advise you on this.

Besides yourself, they’re usually the people best able to judge what’s going on.

Difficulties to sleep are not unusual while starting medication. It’s always recommended to start with the lowest dose possible and slightly increase until you don’t feel futher advantages … if you still can’t sleep in 2-3 weeks you should think about adjusting 😊

I started using Sweepy (a cleaning app) and it really helps to prevent full on chaos but because of that baseline I don’t feel the need to micro organize unimportant things anymore

I downloaded the app. the interface, or rather the whole approach, caught my interest, actually😀
Hopefully I’ll also be able to apply it in practice to my fever dream of daily "routine” 🙏😭
Thanks a lot either way!

Love her. I’m going to check her out further.
We all know those phase when we order a bunch of gadgets, hoping they’ll make under-stimulating tasks and basic organization easier or at least a bit more fun. But often, it stays more of an idea than reality.
Just seeing organizational systems or devices being used in a practical way by her can already help a lot, like judging whether they actually fit into my routine and habits or not. Thank you 🫶

And I always feel proud of my perfect little corner, it helps me endure the war zone elsewhere - and I’m so vexed when my husband doesn’t get it !!!

Feel ya, Every time you look over there, it puts you in a good mood because, for once, you don’t immediately get those “ah, I still need to do/ could fix maybe that…” associations.
Because that area has already been perfected to the maximum. A short, peaceful moment of pure satisfaction🥲👌

Well, looking to my left I see a war zone on our table which I created by putting all the different stuff onto the pile for the last few months and meanwhile there is my clean and tidy closet next to it with all my figurines and tv shows on disc lined up nicely. So yeah.
