Yes, definitely. The more routine or “has to be done”, the worse. I even find myself thinking “oh maybe I should just get back to bed and I really feel sick today and maybe I have done too much yesterday” and then a client calls and I forget that stuff from before and go straight to work for concentrated and productive 6+ hours or so 😅. And I really hate that feeling and to fight myself to the desk almost every day although I really like what I do … but my brain seems to be up to this discussions every day, again and again 🙈

Yes the same. And when we find something very interesting in the task we also hyperfocus on that task

As a photographer, that’s what I call burnout. And maybe some of it is due to people hounding me for their photos, on top of my perfectionism and all of the other stuff I have to do as a business owner. It’s not for the faint of heart, and I don’t have the answer, other than know when you’re on your way to crashing… you then need to take a break.

YES YES YES! This is what I struggle with! Even when it’s something I love to do or know exactly what to do. I love to write but then when it’s just me, a piece of paper, and a pen, it’s just like I have no ideas and when I add an idea it’s horrible. I don’t have any tips but just letting you know ur not alone

I struggle with this too. To be honest, there are times when I feel like no technique helps and I just have to do it stressed. Other times I try to gaslight myself that I'll only do a little bit, like finishing a small part of the thing, and be done for the day. It surely quickly transforms into doing more than you planned because you either get inspired, familiarize yourself with the task or simply start feeling guilty for only doing a small part. I feel like I'm playing a lottery every day

Love that lottery comparison, that’s exactly what I’m experiencing 🙈

Yes hyperfocus or not focus at all. But doing small steps everyday will eventually become big progress

I, too, have those overwhelming feelings, but they're more about tasks than work. About tasks I find them boring and are like a never-ending story, I find starting all over again to be frustrating. Hum, so to kick off something, I'm just telling myself that it's not going to get any better or be done if I just wait. Motivation is also built on discipline somepeople say... maybe try a routine. Cheerful music helps sometimes increase my level of energy and mood. I wonder : do you like your job, or is it somehow a bit of a burden? Because this could impede you. I hope the others will give you other advices. Take heart !😉
