Does anyone struggle with pain?

I was diagnosed young with adhd while at school, which turned out to be the root cause of behaviour and learning issues. After leaving school I learned to live with, and attempt to hide some of my adhd symptoms. Then I had an accident which resulted in loss of a leg. That was nearly 10 years ago and still suffer excruciating pain. My GP always tells me the severity of my pain is in my head. When I'm suffering a bad day, I try to use adhd to a advantage by allowing myself to be distracted by surrounding myself with small tasks that are mentally engaging. sometimes it helps to distract me from mind pain but when it's severe I can't do a thing to distract my attention from it. I'm just wondering if people with adhd have low pain thresholds

Pain is not in your head. You might have developed chronic pain. I’d get a second opinion. I live with chronic pain resulting from an accident 20 years ago so I know the struggle.

I have severe chronic pain as well. While pain is technically always in our head (our brains have to register it, after all), what your doc is saying to you is dismissive and wrong. I don’t know if it’s possible for you to find another doctor, or to perhaps get a second and even third opinion, but I would try if possible. I also don’t know where you live, but here in the US, it’s increasingly difficult to get decent pain care. Where is your pain at? Do you still feel your leg that was amputated? That’s called phantom pain, and it’s absolutely valid. I’m happy to talk more about this if you want. I’m sorry you have to deal with pain, too. If I am remembering right, I believe folks with ADHD have higher rates of pain than the general population.
