Teacher didn't believe me

I was taking a class recently and I told my teacher that I have time blindness and she didn't believe me and she looked at me with utter disdain, like she didn't believe it was a thing and I was upset about it. I wasn't saying it as an excuse. I was just saying it because it was true. What do you do when people who are supposed to know better just don't?

Explain to her that you were stating a fact and not an excuse. Also share your frustration with a perceived lack of understanding or empathy from an education professional who should be supporting neurodivergence by working with students on strategies. Then share the strategies you have in place to manage it.

Honestly, I hate those people who think that they know you better than you ever know about yourself! I also struggle with inability to communicate with some people who think they have the mission to prove me wrong with my obscure behavior and definitions…

I get that it’s a thing but you have to remember it’s an explanation not an excuse! I get where she’s coming from 😬

Print out an article and leave it on her desk.
