Do you also struggle to be concise when you write?

My messages, for example? they are poems, but even if I try to reduce them as much as possible, they continue to be kilometers long. I was wondering if this difficulty has something to do with ahdh or if it's just me regardless of the illness!

Same here. I had to pay for MMS several times in the last months because my SMS got too long and switched to MMS without me noticing. Each month I only realized because I wondered why my flatrate was more expensive than the average amount. 😂 Doesn't matter if it's messages, sms, letters, essays, applications or similar stuff -> I can't keep it short. To be honest, this is the first time I think about this in an adhd context. Got diagnosed last year at 34yo.

I think it definitely correlates with ADHD. But how it shows or affects someone can vary a lot. For me it’s almost the opposite: verbally I often struggle to get to the point, but when writing I can. But I usually rewrite the text at least three times before I send it hahah

I write more than one sentence, but there is still high density information in it. So, yeah, if I keep it shorter, the other persons would safe time, but lose information.

I do everything that was written by the others… At work, I think I write at least five versions of every « important » e-mail, and each time I just reduce the number of words. And the worst for me : students' report cards (I’m a teacher)… They are limited to 300 characters and that’s AWFUL… I can see the number of characters remaining dropping rapidly as I type, then becoming red (that means less than 50 characters left !!…), and I still haven’t come around to saying what I needed to !… 😭 so I need to go over the text and try to rephrase more concisely, and get rid of all the nuances and subtleties that seemed so important to me… ☹️

I always end up writing really long posts on this app and wonder if anyone would bother to read it… I think It’s definitely adhd

I always give extended explanations even if I have just one really simple question 😂🙈, just to put that question into context so people know why I am asking this …

Me too, I always try to justify myself for everything so no one thinks it’s their fault or misunderstand me in another way

I always write incredibly long sentences too that often lead to even longer messages (at least if I’m not pressured to answer fast). I think it’s because ADHD thoughts are faster and therefore you just have more while writing and because of less impulse control one puts relatively unimportant things in the message too.

Yes, details that could be avoided or that go beyond, but I have to write them, otherwise it feels like a piece is missing 😩 what patience for whoever reads them, I wouldn't do it 😂😂 the paradox ahdh 😉
