Wedding planning

First time getting married. And it’s hard not to think about others needs instead of mine, when it comes to planning. Is it me? or is it common feeling like you can’t get a full breath of air, when the day is slowly creeping up and you’ve got nothing done on planning, but have at the same time? I’m excited, nervous and stressed at the same time. My stomach is tight but also full of happy butterflies 😄🤷🏽‍♀️

Yes! The stress and anxiety can definitely affect my breathing and make it harder to get a full breath of air. That’s a very common response. It’s going to be okay! After all the planning, on the day you’ll get to really enjoy it all!

I made a mega mega Notion board of tasks to do and asked my family to help me move the task to “complete.” My hyper focus was insane and we all knocked out wedding planning successfully and had the wedding in 4 glorious months! If you’d like, I can send you a cleaned up version. I made myself, so some tasks may not apply! But you do need Notion to use it so if you plan to download it, here’s a referral link of mine (hehe might as well): https://affiliate.notion.so/3ysg199w0uas

Best wishes and congratulations! Listen, this is normal even for the neurotypicals. However, I remember it was difficult to remember my needs and energy moderation while wanting everyone to come and celebrate with me. Journaling was very important. So was talking things over with the people I worried about supporting their needs the most. I asked them to help me see what they really wanted/needed vs what my neurospicy brain created without being based in reality. Hope this helps!

My sister is getting married this weekend and definitely feeling the same as you! She wishes she could have afforded a wedding coordinator to help with the planning. As a bystander, my advice would be to keep things in perspective. Focus on the things that are truly important to you and your significant other. Then, don’t stress about the rest (easier said then done).

Ugh I 100% understand because I am currently in the same boat! It’s so exciting but so overwhelming so much to do on top of maintaining a healthy home, school, work and social life balance

I'm not married and have no intention to change that. So, I may be the wrong person to answer you in a specific sense. But in general, I would say, yes, it is normal and ok to feel stressed, nervous and excited. Also, it is your wedding. There are exactely two people (assuming it's a monogamous wedding) who count when it comes to needs: Your's and Your partner's. You are the only two people who are really and truly and exclusively important that day. You and your needs. Everyone else is a guest and should be able and willing to overlook anything not fit for their needs and wishes and whatever.
