I get very specific in my to do list, account for every little step of my tasks, and then have a check off frenzy. Very granular lists empties my mind and conscious of the constant fear of forgetting or the overwhelm of remembering. Hope this helps!
I try to remind myself that the overwhelm is a result of biochemical processes in my brain that make me feel that way and that maybe it's not as bad as I am feeling at that moment. No, it doesn't always work, but it gets my focus on me and not whatever is overwhelming me.
I take a minute to try to calm down, try to stop thinking about everything all at once and take one step at a time.
I get up and move to reset my brain. Take a few deep breaths. I like to break down the job in small tasks.
