The Chicken Channel

I never pegged myself as a “farm” person, but we tried out having chickens during the Covid shutdowns in 2020 via a company called Rent-a-Coop. We had a few chickens for a month, and I fell in love. Since last Easter, we have acquired our own flock of ladies. Pictured here is Edna, the splash silkie. I’ve never known such joy and peace as I have from watching them forage, from creating their coop, and, yes, even from cleaning their poop. It’s funny where you can find your “thing.” I’m ok with being a “crazy chicken lady”…the sunshine, their cute little sounds, and the physical labor all help me refresh, focus, and even smile (occasionally…..I’m not a huge smiley person, haha). I just wanted to encourage you all to try something new; you never know what will bring you joy.
