I‘m only 22 and i‘ve already tried a few jobs and also i‘m studying at the moment but somehow, no matter how enthusiastic i‘ve been at the beginning, everything gets boring after some time… How are you doing in your jobs? Do you have tips on how to keep work exciting?

I’m a studio photographer and manage the studio. It’s a new job for me and at first I hated it because the goals seemed unrealistic and I like to feel like an “expert” in anything I do, but as I get more confidence in what I’m doing the fast pace has actually been really good for me.
I’m a home health pediatric speech language pathologist. I got lucky in the sense that I found the field super interesting and was able to use my hyper focus to my advantage. Grad school (2005) was also around the time when I was diagnosed because the long term projects were kicking my ass. It’s the perfect cross between education and medical care. I get paid to play with cute little kids. It can be emotionally draining but incredibly rewarding being there for a child’s first words and home health provides me the flexibility to create my own schedule. If you can tolerate the paperwork (which I am avoiding right now 😅), it’s a pretty cool career and I’ve been in the field for 18 years now.
Executive manager/business development and YES. I love my roles… I work with high level executives in high stress situations and I always love that environment because that’s where I can multitask and jump from thing to thing without it negatively impacting my day to day lol! I also love the roles because I’m ALWAYS learning new things, and it’s hands on learning so I just enjoy it. Been on the desk for 11 years!
I’m in my last year of law school! I want to become a criminal defense lawyer but I can’t do only one thing at a time so I also own an online store (I make jewelry and clothing!). Art is a passion I don’t want to give up even after becoming a lawyer. It is my way of balancing out my creative side and my love for justice!
I would recommend data analytics and freelancing, like on fiverr, Upwork or contra, or going for a normal job because many of them are remote. So advantages are: 1. You can learn it quickly (2 weeks) online for free (khan academy, code academy, datacamp), 2. Entry level salaries are impressive, as many such jobs are in tech, 3. If a job, it's remote, you don't have to go to the office and dealing with data, you don't really have to interact with a lot of colleagues, 4. If it's freelance, you get to change the projects you are working on as often as you like and not get bored, and get to charge more over time for less hours of work 5. It's data, it's.. organised, repetitive, comforting in a way, there's dopamine in it for sure 6. Data analytics is in high demand, and in the future, most (office) jobs will be either remote or freelance, you might as well start now. Good luck!
Caring for my kids right now but I've done everything from fast food restaurants, customer service , sales, account management, archaeologist ^ got my degree after always wanting to be one and then realised I didn't wanna do it 🤣 have also worked in recruitment, with children from littles to 18, customs, a music school. Jesus I've had a lot of jobs. Anyway all meh, still dunno what I wanna be when I grow up
I’m a IT director at a very large contract manufacturer of electronics. I get to solve lots of new issues and work on different projects with totally different processes and system designs all the time. And I still get to do some coding and automation design integrating complex machines. Been at the company for ten years now. Before this I was in the military and military contracting after that in many different areas. Got bored all the time and ended up with 2 bachelors one in computer science another in kinesiology. Then got bored with IT that and got my masters in electrical engineering. And I have more certs in random things than I can remember. But all my background has come together and really helped me excel here. I now am managing multiple sites all with very complex different manufacturing systems and processes and specialized in Medical device compliance. I’m well known in the company for being able to solve complex problems and create easy to use system process and integrations out of chaotic asks from difficult customers.
I was an undiagnosed as a SPED teacher. Though there were aspects that were more challenging, like planning and empathy fatigue, the part where I’d get up and use my energy to teach and excite my students allowed me to balance my role. I think it’ll be easier once I go back now that I’m In the know about this issue.
I’m currently a website designer and was a graphic designer for years before that. Design definitely puts me in a flow state, but troubleshooting website issues is difficult to find any sort of excitement in doing. Unfortunately, it’s extremely vital when the sites go down or stop functioning correctly. I’m doing a bunch of other things at work too - I handle our Amazon Associates account (Amazon’s affiliate program), as well as our Amazon Seller Account. And I’ll soon create an Amazon storefront. Oh, and dealing with all things Google (from a business perspective). I love my job and the people I work with (that makes a HUGE difference), and enjoy most of what I do on a daily basis. (Which varies on a daily basis - great for the easy ADHD boredom.) I currently have multiple projects going on now, and the downside is they all involve learning how to use new software. I love to learn, but I’m feeling overwhelmed with ALL the projects, and ALL the figuring-things-out that each entails. I’m figuring out that I do better when working on one learning-intensive project (2 max) at a time. After that, my brain tends to shut down and I have a really hard time prioritizing my tasks. And just getting started on the ones that are more daunting.
I literally quit my job yesterday. I think it’s the fact that because we have such active and self-aware brains that we can tell (fast than others) when a place ain’t gonna work out). You’ll find something, having multiple jobs at the same time seemed to work for me in the past and I think I’m gonna go back to it, because you’ll never get bored.
I’ve been managing an event center for almost 2 years now - just quit too 😂😂 It was too overwhelming trying to balance it with my mom duties. However, I’ve always tried to do art commissions and stuff like that. I find that so much easier for me to handle, since I control when I want to work and I love to do art so there’s that too. So, it’s nice to not need to focus my energy on anything except mom stuff and art now 🥹
I have been working as Uber/Uber Eats driver for about 3 years. I like that I can set my own schedule or choose not to have a schedule at all. Every day is a little different. I still find myself getting bored of it so I picked up a scheduled job that allows me to control my schedule. It is a one on one client caregiver job… so if I am tempted to blow off the day, it is easier to discipline myself to keeping the schedule I agreed to. Also, my clients are counting on me and only me. External accountability helps me stay on task and stick to my own schedule. I still do Uber, but not every day and only for a few hours here and there.
I am working at this job now, but this is my third time back- and i am contemplating getting a different job. i’m just not sure if i should or not- i have two other jobs at two different places that I would like to try for. I don’t know if it’s a good idea to do that or not- sigh* it really stresses me out :(
I work 3 jobs during the week. I work as an aerial apparatus coach for lyra, nanny, bush regeneration and occasionally a 4th as a dancer/roving performer 😅 For me having more than one job means that the week doesn't feel tedious but it took me a few years to build it so that there is stability and routine and I'm not trying to do too much for each employer. I am valued at each of my jobs and have responsibilities at each one, but I rarely feel like I don't want to fulfil them or go to work! I worked this weird week schedule out prior to my recent diagnosis though, so I think it has been a way to work with the chaos brain and give it variety but also progress at work and have long standing jobs. Sorry for the essay 😅
My actual profession is a musician, I have pianist education, and people always told me that I am an excellent music theorist - and could be successful in science work for our Conservatory, but I never graduated from both college and Conservatory (now I know that was my adhd). I worked as a support representative for the financial company (trading), and it was really nice before the time I overwhelmed myself and started falling asleep within my shifts. Then, a long break, which was uneasy at all, brief seasonal work as a music teacher with kids, and then I got the wardrobe keeper’s position in my favorite club which meant that I will have a chance to hear MORE ELECTRONIC MUSIC and speak with more and more people. As the war started in my country, I was lost, but it was a push for me to find a stable work as a support agent again. I work there for a year and couple of months now, and it’s the greatest company I ever had in my life!
I work as a war correspondent and idk if I can I say I like it because of the circumstances…but in general I do. Back in the days I worked as a project manager, fundraiser, editor and journalist and well, this one is the best But I never thought whom I’m going to be, I just go with the flow
I have had sooooo many jobs. I'm 35 now and have been at oil change company for almost a year. It's fun because the people are different everyday, the cars are different everytime and it's kinda outside and super flexible schedule. I still get bored and threaten to quit when overstimulated though
I’ve been working office jobs since graduating w/ my paralegal certificate 10 years ago. I’ve worked at 3 different offices over the years and thought I was miserable because of the office environments and coworkers, but I’ve recently come to the conclusion that those aren’t the only factors. Sitting at a desk all day and stressing over deadline after deadline is just not what I want to do with my life. I’ve actually got a phone call scheduled with admissions for a cosmetology and esthetics program. ☺️
I found a perfect job but they didn't listen to occupational health to put structure in place for me so luckily I'm studying in September so I have left but it was happening since December 2020 just sending me to occupational health
