Has someone a tipp on how to decide what to study?

Do the Myers-Briggs Type indicator test! If you don’t know your personality already, finding out about the combination of being introvert or extrovert, how you think, perceive and act can do a lot for you! I found out only after I was done studying ~ I don’t know how my choice might have been different, had I know earlier about the whole world around the mentioned M.B.T.I. theory .. I am an ENTPa type, also called “the debater” - fits more than tight! I can recommend 16personalities.com- they have parts of the test in several languages, but the details of every topic were only available in English last time I checked. The offer stuff you can pay for (of course) but it is for those that plan to dive deep into the matter. —And here’s the thing!- When knowing about your personality, you can google what jobs are suggested for these strengths and weaknesses (the website also offers an insight to it, but not included for free) I wish I had found this advice earlier, because there are so many fields of studying I never even thought of! Also- you should be open minded in terms of location/ form of education/ if you are sure to go to university or maybe start at a Fachhochschule- more practical studying there as you might have heard If you’d like to know what I actually chose to study- I did my Bachelors degree at the Hochschule Hannover- formerly Fachhochschule Hannover

Thanks for all of your advice! I sadly had a lot of stuff going on which kept me from having brain capacity to really think about it the last day’s and ended up panicky signing up last minute for psychology. I hope it was a good decision tho but otherwise i guess i still can change to smth else

Also Biology and History could be a cool combo! There’s so much history in Biology, like about how we actually know the stuff we know now. Plus my favourite was always evolution and genetic biology, which is definitely still relevant to history. I did the wacky combo of Biology and Music cause I couldn’t decide

I would definitely go for whatever you actually enjoy doing, rather than thinking about job prospects, otherwise your adhd brain will probably have a miserable time. If you do something you enjoy/are passionate about, you’ll pick up so many other skills too, as your brain won’t be stuck trying to grind through something you have no motivation for

Honestly, what you choose to study doesn'n necessarily predict or limit what you can do afterwards. If you have a specific "level of thinking" you can do a lot of things that are even just semi-related to what you majored in. I studied biomedical sciences, realised i didnt want to work in the lab forever, so I did a minor to be able to teach biology. And now i have an office job making lesson materials and other interventions about comprehensive sex education. This world is weird, and more roads lead to Rome, or even wilder places ✨

Is your decision based on probability of job prospects after or are you basing it on interests you are passionate about? What’s your purpose and the impact you want to make in this world? You may be spinning in circles because you’re trying to secure some potential outcome but only God knows the future and we don’t have as much control as we think. You may need to dig deeper and find reasons that are essential to your core personal “why.”
