Skin picking

Has anyone tips for skin picking (scratching, picking, popping)? I‘ve done this for 13+ years.

i have such a huge problem with skin picking too. i still struggle a lot but so far what has helped me was hiding pimples/wounds from myself with makeup, clothes, patches or even turning off the lights when i shower (for me it’s a big skin picking moment, and looking at the scars and wounds triggers me to pick them, so being in the dark helps me not to lol). also in a daily basis, when i notice i started picking, it helps me to replace the act with something else i can occupy my hands with, such as a fidget toy or a repetitive manual activity of some sort. still, i have skin picking episodes and uncontrollable urges all the time, it’s not exactly a magic solution :/

Oh, i also finally disclosed my diagnosis and some info about it to my best friends that o spend the most time with and we came up with a RANDOM code word or phrase they can say anywhere that alert me that I'm doing it even if I don't notice, without alerting others like saying "don't pick" or whatever

I actually bought little finger coverings ppl use for gaming that i csn still use my phone with for when I'm asleep or "relaxing". Lol i got a pop it thing and a really smooth stone to keep in my car & in my pocket for when the urge strikes. I also use hydrocolloid bandaids to cover scars snd help them heal and pimplt patches bot the acne thst usually causes the worst picking (face)

Oh, I’m wondering the same time but no skin picking in my case. For me it’s hair pulling/cutting.. so annoying. It started when I changed meds 🥺

been doing it for 25 years. I wear press on nails or acrylics when I get a bad scar I need to heal over. Mind you, I can still pick, but it makes it harder so it gives it enough time for me to stop
