I’m aware that Eastern culture, especially India, don’t really accept the idea of neurodiversity. Everyone is their own unique person. Maybe run with that mindset and story. What will you choose for your story to be? I can tell you not to center your story and your life around the self-narrative of, “oh I have ADHD, so this is why I…” because that doesn’t necessarily make anyone understand you better, and it can also make them tolerate you less. Make ADHD your special “secret” superpower, not your lifestyle.

Good advice but the last one I don’t understand. How can ADHD be a superpower? Like they said that to me then I was really small in school “Noah it’s you superpower “ but it was like they only wanted to lie to me cuz it’s absolutely nothing good with ADHD. It’s only a list of bad things. I try to focus on my actual power (call them super or not) cuz I got powers also like I’m really good with people for being 13 and I can like talk and debate with adults and many time win. And I have more powers also but that’s not the point. The point is that ADHD is the opposite of powers so i think it’s importent to understand that we are a lot more then just an “ADHD kid” (or adult). I’m Noah and I got ADHD and that is not nice but my friend needs glasses and that’s not nice either. But I also have good sides and if I always like focusing on ADHD then I will not get very happy.

I agree with Noah concerning the so called “superpowers”. If we are really honest to ourselves every ADHD “superpower” comes with the double amount of struggles. I’d rather recommend to honestly identify your individual strengths and weaknesses and try to build the best life possible around it. Not focusing too much on one of them but honestly be aware of what you are given and where you might need support from time to time.

First of all don’t abuse your meds. You’ll develop a tolerance and have to go on a higher dose. You need to tell and be completely honest with family, friends, etc. on why you are different. Our brains are wired completely different and neurotypical people sometimes just don’t get that. I consider these people vanilla and boring. We just do things differently. Last of all, learn to love yourself as I am certain you have many talents and gifts. 💖
