What are your hobbies?

What type of activities have you found that you can do intermittently and not feel bad if they take a few…years…or hours or days…to complete? I love gardening and having 90% being perennial and 10% annuals so I feel like my garden is beautiful and productive but also leaves space for me to change whatever I’d like annually without committing to it.

Lego (helps if you have kids, as kind of an excuse 😅), drawing, writing, hiking,...

I let my brain take the wheel and don’t feel bad for: Gardening (I get lost looking at patterns on the leaves and stems) Jiu Jitsu (le adhd has no power here when all you can focus on is not getting choked 😛) Woodworking (no clue what I’m doing but letting my brain take the wheel has been a lot fun. A lot of incomplete projects but I’m ok with it for now.) Deep emotional meditation(I imagine myself as someone else and them let my brain go down all the rabbit holes of challenges that person might face. Definitely a weird thing to do but as someone who builds products I find it really helps me empathize with others.)

I read. It’s one of the few things that can hold my full attention. I mix it up and will read at my local beach, park, and anywhere really. I always carry a book with me and it gets me out of my own head usually.

I don’t have the attention span for anything like that… except maybe kombucha. I do love kombucha. But the time involved it day to day maintenance is low, and you can’t skip the waiting part. Junk journaling is super fun but I hyperfocus because the dopamine when it’s done is so much. They’re sooooo pretty I just can’t delay it.

I love sewing, embroidery, appliqué… anything of the sorts really. Even if a pattern takes me a really long time, I can pick it up and put it down whenever I want and there’s never any time pressure :)

Fermenting: vegtables, yogurt, kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut. Some of these items take at least 5 weeks, but there’s a feeling of accomplishment when you have a finished product that’s full of probiotics and taste!
