Feeling so overwhelmed that ya end up doing nothing.

Not knowing how to prioritize and manage daily tasks because I get overwhelmed and either end up starting and stopping a bunch of things or doing none of the things.

Same. I try to make a list but it’ll end up being an insane amount of items because I can’t prioritize them. So, then the list is so overwhelming I just shut down and do something mindless like tv, scroll my phone, or nap. Then the guilt of not being productive and feeling like I failed myself or family creates more paralysis. Things end up a mess because of starting and stopping. I’ll leave unfinished things because I’ll get overwhelmed and try to go do something easier. But being overwhelmed from the first task, I end up easily overwhelmed with whatever else and it all just ends up unfinished.

It's called ADHD paralysis! It's a real thing! There are LOTS of tips on routines, and task management on here. Keep reading the board. You may have to do some trial and error to find what works for you. You got this!!! Different things I've seen so far: :Tiimo app designed for time blindness : Goblin app to break down tasks into a manageable starting point : The Promodoro technique : 30 and 30 : Getting a small trolley to take with you for chores so when you find something out of place in your current area, rather than getting distracted by putting it away, just throw it in the trolley. It'll keep you focused on one area at a time : Get creative with the daunting task. Go to Dollarama and buy fun accessories. Dress up quarky, put on fun music, create a character for yourself, and fun story for why they're doing the daunting task. : Try and alternate daunting tasks daily, and try to only repeat them at minimum every two weeks. For instance if you have 10 exercises you do at home break them down into groups of 2-3 making each day a different exercise experience, and then switch up the order for the next week. It keeps the ADHD from getting bored with routines. Hopefully at least one of these helps!

I am still in the "figure out how to not spend all day making the list" phase! The overwhelm is my biggest hurdle right now. Yesterday, I unloaded the dishwasher and felt like I was on top of the world because I just did it. Someone had suggested that if it's a task that takes less than 5 minutes to do, just do it. It worked one time yesterday, hopefully today it will work twice!

In this app, there's a tip of break it down into the smallest possible task. I tried that yesterday and it really helped. I need to mail a package and it's been sitting in my front room for MONTHS. (so embarrassing!) So I broke it down in the smallest possible task.... "pick the package up!" and I actually did it this morning lol. It's in my car and hopefully I will mail it today lol.

I try to talk myself into doing them by saying how short of a time it actually is to do it. Sometimes I even time myself for proof. Some days I walk by the thing 1,000 times and don’t do it even if I know it will be fast 🙄

Everyday. I have found a few things that help when I actually DO those things (like timers) and I like the idea of the brain dump list.

I have the same issue. I am learning to reach out and ask my boyfriend to assist me by giving me ideas of what I should do and he usually helps me accomplish said tasks.

Try a brain dump list. Then star the “do it today” tasks.

I have seen a tip of setting a timer and doing what you can in that time frame. Gonna try to tackle hanging clean laundry with this.
