Emotional reactivity during arguments

I find it very hard to control myself whenever me and my partner have disagreements on deep issues (lashing out, shouting, unable to regulate anger/pain/frustration, leaving the room, saying hurtful things). I know this is like a human trait lol but I think youll understand the level of explosion/intensity. Do you have any tips or tools that have helped you calm down/have healthier discussions?
