How do you guys remember to eat?

I’m physically healthy apart from having a BMI of 26. Yet, I can’t seem to remember to eat. Like, if I’m alone at home for the whole day, it’s gonna be at least 10 PM before I think of if I ever had anything to eat. This causes many problems at home and in relationships with my husband because he’s worried that I don’t receive enough nutrients. We’re both doctors, and I should know better. Yet, the only time I think about food or have an urge to eat is when I see food in ads or someone visits for dinner. Any tips on eating healthy and actually remembering to eat?

I always forget to eat as well, people always seem to think that I eat a lot because im big in size but I can't eat big portions without getting a bloated stomach and I don't eat nearly as often as I should each day, same with liquids. I try to remind myself by putting alarms on my phone with breakfast, lunch and dinner written on them and it helps but sometimes I don't eat anyway because it just feels like a boring "have to" that my brain really don't feel like doing even though I know better. It helps having people around to eat together with because it makes it more enjoyable.

Do you have any food sensitivities or difficulties? Do you feel hunger or is this mainly a motivation or memory issue?

Yeah, I can’t stand greasy foods. I mean, I love a double cheeseburger or some fries, but my pancreas has another opinion. As for motivation – I don’t feel hunger throughout the day, especially if I’m working

What do you like? Do you cook or buy food? Perhaps writing out a list of your favorites with little photos might trigger your appetite.

Can you put it on REMINDER? Not that you have to, but to memorize, whether you are feeling hungry/thirsty and to start it as a habit? Like stuff x in between 2 hours in the morning? And then just reminding. if your body says no and you are healthy, it’s fine.

For clients I’d want to drink water more, I’d have them leave water bottles in strange but very viewable locations to serve as a mental reminder to drink more Maybe you and your husband can strategically place snacks throughout your room/house/car? (:

As a personal trainer, I’d highly encourage drinking your calories!! Make it a habit to have xyz drink with you. Maybe in a Stanley you have a premade protein drink?

We have Stanley-like stuff, yes Maybe filling it with a protein shake is exactly what I need, bc I have problems with having enough protein Thank you!

See if you can get your hands on HUEL an excellent meal replacement. You can also take with you to work.

Also want to add that many times for lunch, I make extra dinner portions to pack the next day and/or freeze.

I wish I had a forgetting to eat problem. I see it, I eat it. However, when I have something I have trouble remembering, I make it part of my established routine. For example, in the morning, I need to get out of bed, do my bathroom items (pee, brush teeth; comb hair), get dressed, go get my lunch together and fill my water bottle, get my bag ready to go. If I go out of order, something gets forgotten. Same for when I leave the car. Grab lunch, backpack, hang my placard, go to work. Before when I just grabbed my things, I would forget to hang my placard, so it became part of the go into work routine. Turn off car, check windows, grab phone, get lunch and backpack from passenger side, hang placard. Once again, if I get out of order, something gets stuck forgotten. So, to remember to eat, I would try attaching it to something else like get dressed, eat, brush teeth, or whatever works for you. Sorry this is so long. What’s even worse is I had to stop and remember what your question was. 😂
