I genuinely am overwhelmed

Does anybody else feel a wave of sadness for no reason like... 2x per 3 days? Is that like normal..?

I don’t know if it’s normal, but it has happened to me from time to time. Sometimes it’s music induced. I’m very sensitive to melodies.

not without a reason, but yes, I have it, as soon, as I have free time to feel it

“Normal” is not a word I’d use in this context, as it implies everything else is ABnormal. But it is COMMON for people with ADHD to have high anxiety and often depression. I have both. I’ve been on antidepressants (SSRIs) for ~20 years and in talk therapy most of my life. Some days are more challenging and I just want to crawl into a hole (which is much harder now that I have young kids). Other days I can get going and be a productive member of society. From everything I’ve read & been told various practitioners, the single best thing you can do to keep the sadness at bay is regular, moderately strenuous exercise (for at least half the time, you should be breathing hard enough that it’s tough to hold a conversation)

Such exercise if done regularly has a stronger effect than anti-depressants

I have that too but I dont think its something you have to expirience, I'd suggest a therapist. It helped me atleast

I feel it’s a serotonin drop along with just too much cognitive input (or code versa). I get that a lot, weirdly especially when I was a kid, where I’d just want to die for like 5 seconds, then I’d be fine.

Why should sadness be there without reason? No emotion and no feeling is there without reason. Sadness wants to tell you something. Only when you find out and resolve the reason will it go away again.

I barely recognize my feelings and they have always been very distant so more of the opposite I guess?

Even more so since the medication and the elections in France. I am very stressed.

Same for me, the stress of the elections… I feel like it's been like this since the 2024 dissolution…

I agree full heartedly with elora. Also want to add that it’s a good topic to go over with your therapist, if you have one and a good reason to get one if you don’t. ADHD impacts us emotionally big time so learning strategies to cope and handle are essential to my happiness.

Yes, it's normal, I guess... maybe I think that because it's my normal... you shouldn't compare yourself too much to others when it comes to feelings and emotions... well, it's just my opinion, after all...
