How would you respond to someone who comments with these phrases? It's a trend

now having ahd! Everyone has ahd symptoms; so we're all neurodivergent! They wanted to give it a name to justify those who don't want to do things and follow the rules like everyone else "ece ss"

That's so annoying… people romanticize ADHD so much when in reality it's all a pain in the ass 😢

I’ve noticed this too. Everyoneeeeee seems to say “I think I have adhd too”. Everyone. Even when they can literally lock-in with the most impressive concentration and attention span (among other things) that I have ever seen. People seem to think that just because they get distracted sometimes or have a busy brain that they are adhd. I don’t understand why people think that literally normal things are adhd and they talk about it like they are excited and want it and/or want to be medicated. I would LOVE to NOT have adhd lol

No I don’t think I have. I’d have to look through my health files. But I’ll bring it up at my next appointment. Thank you!

So annoying… Maybe you can point out how disrespectful - and even hurtful - it is for people living with this condition, to have their difficulties of a lifetime dismissed in such an in sensitive way…

I hate that. Everyone that I meet these days seems to think they have ADHD. Even my Mother in law. She tried some adderall from a friend at her old job, illegal I know but I’m not her keeper, and she was telling me how energetic she was that day and how focused she was at doing her factory job. And she was like I don’t understand you’re severely ADHD and take strong stimulants but you’re still always tired. Well sweet cheeks, my strong extended release Focalin doesn’t make me energetic at all. I can literally go back to sleep after taking it. My 2 immediate release adderalls I am to take at noon and sometimes 4pm depending on the kids schedules don’t give me energy they just keep me mostly on track with why I am at this field or that gym and I have taken 1 at 4pm before and literally sleep all night until almost noon the next day. Stimulants don’t stimulate me because I’m severely ADHD they make you bounce off the freaking walls because you’re not ADHD, you’re just high as a kite. God, I wish they have me their toddler like energy ADHD paralysis would be gone, my house organized and not look like a mini tornado just came through even though I was trying to clean/organize it on and off for the past 4 hours. Let me also add: besides ADHD I have a very thick health file with autoimmune disorders, blood disorder as well as impingement in my c5,c6 and torn rotator cuff tendons, polyneuropathy and lung issues and now a possible prolapsed bladder. So yes I am fatigued, tired, all things that basically say tired except for lazy that’s something I’ll never be even if cooking dinner is all I get done, it’s a win in my book!, all the time no matter what’s going on. Ok sorry for the long TMI reply.

@mamadhdrum sorry for stepping in like this but have you ever been checked for (h)EDS or any other hypermobility issue? Your list of symptoms sounds kind of alike. I have it too and it was the explanation for being diagnosed with ADHD but still experiencing a lot of pain and stress with my body although being on medication …

I feel for you ! Your MIL clearly isn’t able to realize how lucky she is to have so much energy… I would say « Don’t lose your time with such people », but I imagine it must be more complicated than that…
