ADHD Wandering

Does anyone else give themselves time to just let their ADHD free? For example, I have tasks broken down to clean my house, but occasionally I let myself wander around and just let things that need picked up or done in whatever order works. Obviously when you’re on a deadline this wouldn’t work well, but on a daily basis having that time I just give into it really helps. It helps since it’s common to blame things on your ADHD, but I do often think it’s a super power. We often only frame it as this thing we have to overcome. If nothing else, it helps me frame ADHD in a more positive light.

I love doing this 🥰 I try to once a week have a few hours to forget all my ‘should’ do’s and just see where my adhd takes me 🙃 it’s fun, rewarding and usually really productive.. if not then it’s something I’ve needed for myself 🥰

I try to see it as a superpower because I can see things neurotypical people can’t see or pick up on. So I tell myself that I am going to take the executive dysfunction out of the equation and enjoy my neurodivergent brain which means that any task I accomplish feels like a million bucks when completed. Our neurotypical friends never feel that satisfaction the way we do. 😏

Yea, this is our definition of rest :) although it looks different than other’s. Although it may not look like sitting still - at all. We all need rest.

I do this because otherwise nothing gets done. I’ve been lean into it because I’m hoping the more mini tasks I do as a form of procrastination will eventually lead to me being less overwhelmed and able to focus on what I should be doing… the procrastination tasks seems to be never ending tho

After a workout I just let go and do things, stretching, nap, random exercise. Or I just go for a ride on my scooter to random places and find new obstacles

I love this, I need to try and implement that to my ADHD life, I hate chores but I know they have to be done I procrastinate a lot and with laundry I tend to wait until I have one set of clothes to wear for the next day and then do laundry 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️. I don’t have deadlines with work because my jobs are pretty simple I am an event staff for University football games but I have to remain focus because I am a security officer, and for my second job I just drive and use a gps and follow directions from costumers on Amazon app for Amazon Flex, no deadlines pretty nice and easy going jobs maybe not so much for the security job but still pretty easy going. Back to chores and everything else I used to make a list especially when I go to the store and I use the stores app to find what I am looking for and I put the item in my list along with the isle it is in, it makes it so much easier to shop, I still do the list for shopping but I need to definitely go back to making lists for all my other tasks.

I love cleaning the hour in an ADHD manner, but it takes a long time. I need to make sure it doesn’t consume my whole weekend.

I do this too 🙂 I try and have days that have nothing scheduled where I can just flow. So soothing.

I love it!! I think I kinda already do this, but not consciously. Maybe I could implement it too. It does sound good for a transition from work to home time or something

I like this. I used to do this all the time at work but was told not to because it was not my job and that it was keeping me from doing my signed work. I found myself distracted even more and then I got into trouble for not getting work done. Maybe doing this when I get home from work would be a nice segue from work life to home life. Maybe it will keep me of the sofa right after work, too! Time to pick up one of my habits that was working for me but that others (supervisors) saw as ineffective😁

My husband and I call time set aside for my mind to wander and bounce off the walls green space. We try to make sure I get at least 30 minutes of green space after work. What you described above, getting things done that may or may not be on the to do list, I call surfing the 🌊
